Offthetopofmyhead is a design agency founded by me, John Spencer. I invent names, design logos, create graphic and language identities, and conjure up campaigns. I’m a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers.
I collaborate with some of the most talented and experienced people around and bring together the best team of specialists for each job. Offthetopofmyhead is creatively led but all our work is underpinned by a sound understanding of organisational strategy so everything we create is on the mark. Offthetopofmyhead waves the flag for instinct and imagination.
I’m the author of three books. Time Flies When You’re Having Fun is an A to Z of idiosyncratic letters taken from logos I’ve designed over the years. There’s No Bullsh*t Like Design Bullsh*t is a collection of soundbites from my published writings on graphic design that strip away the nonsense to reveal some common sense. Risk-taking Trailblazers is about some of the extraordinary people I’ve worked with and the logos I’ve designed for them. My books are published by Impress.
